NCEA Visual Art
Students can study Visual Arts at Level 100, 200 and 300 to gain credits for NCEA qualifications. Visual Arts is an accepted subject for university Entrance.
In these classes at Forest View High School we concentrate on drawing, painting and illustration in contemporary form. Research and an understanding of the historical influences of different genres within the Visual Arts are an important aspect of all study in this subject.
Following is a list of available achievements standards at each level. We offer a selection of these standards each year and give students an opportunity to gain 22 - 26 credits.
Level 100
AS 90913 Demonstrate understanding of art works from a Māori and another cultural context using art terminology, 4 credits, Internal.
AS 90914 Use drawing methods and skills for recording information using wet and dry media, 4 credits, Internal.
AS.90915 Use drawing conventions to develop work in more than one field of practice, 6 credits, Internal.
AS 90916 Produce a body of work informed by established practice, which develops ideas, using a range of media. 12 credits, External.
AS 90917 Produce a finished work that demonstrates skills appropriate to cultural conventions, 4 credits, Internal.
Level 200
